there is a problem with our national debt. our budget is no where near balanced

who will pay our debt off? future working generations, your children and grand children, what happens to them? taxes raised taking their income to pay for spending that is happening now and not for the ones in need then, what happens if the economy stays the same and so many people are unemployed? the government unable to pay down the debt

at some point spending must stop in order to pay the debt down, that means cuts to all the benefit systems social security, foodstamps,medicare and medicaid etc, cuts in military spending weakening our nation, layoffs of government employees if there are not enough people working to pay for everything

what happens when the rest of the world gets sick of us just printing money to pay for everything? the dollars in your pocket yesterday are not worth as much today, the rate of inflation will grow and interest rates will artificially be held down to almost nothing, that is not good for our economy...we may just put other countries to look out for themselves and eventually them not use the american $ as the worlds reserve currency, then we loose our control of the economy

our national debt goes up over 2-5mil or something every single minute, the problems will only continue to get worse, a manageable national debt is good for a country but at extreme rates such as we are under now is a major problem for every american citizen now and a even bigger problem for future generations

you know what, you're right, i'm THRILLED that MY tax dollars to the federal government went towards DOUBLING the number of Christmas trees at the whitehouse, because 25, or 15, or 5 big trees was just not enough.

i have nothing against obama, only his policy of tax and spend without taking any consideration to the long term debt and stability of our nation and currency.

To be honest RJP I find the opposing viewpoints quite interesting and eye opening..I'm trying to stress fiscal responsibility in all aspects of government....now granted,being called a racist or hitler was not my aim or goal..but when I mention waste fraud and abuse,to be able to hear someone defend such is interesting...budget cuts are never pleasant,I've been in the military,live near a large base,have government friends...but ALL spending cuts gotta start somewhere...Vic bemoans my fiscal prudence with trying to make my life easier on the backs of the needy...UNTRUE..everything needs to be looked at...I'm unselfish in that (unlike Vic)..I wanna stop the taking..steps I promote:raise the age for ss,tax more income for ss..lower benefits at younger ages..that's not making my life easier..that's me feeling and absorbing some of the pain.
