Spanish is already the 2nd spoken language in America why shouldnt children learn another language. I dont remember when Language Arts wasnt a requirement to graduate!

worm,i'm not talking learning another language..shit,i took spanish in hs and it was like 2 blocks per week..i'm talking about the money spent on bi-lingual ed...not learning another language,but being educated completely in a foreign 1...thats a luxury that is crippling city school budgets across the country...and in my view crippling the kids being taught...it's bad enough kids are coming outta school dumbed down already..but when they can't speak english because their hands were held k-12 being taught in spanish....who's gonna hire them??..are they gonna walk into google or oracle or ibm and apply when they can't comprehend english..now thats probably a reach,but my point is schools should promote english immersion for these kids..taking a secondary class to learn a foreign language is fine.teaching a kid in spanish then graduating him into an english speaking country is a travisty.

c'mon now worm,as Rush would say there are alot of low information voters reading this thread who might believe the republicans are doing nothing,and they might get the wrong idea..the Republicans submitted a budget to avert the cliff just Wednesday,them jackass Dems voted it down..get them Dems off their asses and work with the republicans who have submitted cliff ending budgets.

I think both sides have good points in regards to the current entitlement issue. Yes, there are many people who are struggling that do not have equal opportunity as some others. Someone that grows up in poverty will have a much different perspective in this than someone who has not, but it is also true that the current system can not continue as is without ]higher tax rates, much higher. Poverty is bad for all of society, and it is something that can not be ignored. An alternative that has been suggested by some is to remove the government completely from some of these programs. Some argue that by doing this it would decrease taxes for all, giving citizens more disposable income for spending, job creation, and charitable donations. The big question in my mind is if, we as a society, can be counted on to take care of our less fortunate without the force of taxation. I would certainly hope so, but I admittedly have some doubts.
