A Song of Ice and Fire series - The series that Game of Thrones is based on. Martin does a good job of really making the world come to life through multiple characters and perspectives. The show changes a lot of events that take place and on top of that, you get extra insight since chapters are told from a characters perspective. I'd highly, highly recommend picking this series up if you like the show.
There's also a series of short stories based in the same world, "Tales of Dunk and Egg" which pre-date the asoiaf series by about 100 years. These are short and sweet and would be a good starting place for someone if they weren't sure about getting into the series itself.
Disaster Artist - Is a book penned from Greg Sestero who was the co-star of The Room, which I think is the best worst-movie ever made (It's a real treat if you haven't seen the movie), and the book is based on Greg's experiences being a close friend of Tommy and the production of the movie itself.
