let me know what phone you got, pros /cons and most of all does it handle PB/webbrowsing good lol?

I have a HTC Desire. It has served me pretty damn well. Apart from once deleting all my messages it has been great. The User interface is not standard Android (its HTC Sense) and it is better in my opinion. Very easy to use and when I get an upgrade in a month with renewal of contract I will be getting the Desire HD.

Touch screen works great, even with my huge fingers and playing PB is no problem for me. Only thing that is annoying is that you can't do screen shots as with some other Android phones. Other than that it has been great.

I got an android Galaxy 2, but Mu got me an iphone for Christmas because I hated it so much. Actually just hated the keyboard. The only thing I miss about the Galaxy is the GPS, and the battery life.

I'm a simple user though, I don't need all the customization Andriods could give me

*Cough*March 21, Mu *winkwink-cough*

Yea I wish i could say the same but im pretty much the opposite when it comes to customizations etc

and indeed about the battery, im surprised everytime ive got more than 50% battery left on my iphone by the time ive left the house..

So guys, different versions of androids, is there any version i should stay away from..?

unless im mistaken the most common/recent ones are 2.3?

Edit:

Androids... 2.3... 2.2.....2.1....3.2

Yeah it handles videos well. HTC's tend to have the best screens in terms of resolution. I used to watch series on my phone on the train... BUT you do have to convert them first sometimes because they only play some types of file. AVI but not MPEG I think from the top of my head.

If you buy a new phone it will come with teh latest version of Andoroid. If not it will update itself soon after. No problems with the new one that I have to report.

Be careful with who you get your mobile contract from though. Some companies such as Vodaphone have THEIR OWN version on Android which is full of useless branded shit and apps you don't want that clog your internal memory. It is possible to change to basic Android with some fiddling but its a bit of hassle. Other companies such as Orange don't do this - well at least not when I got my phone anyway. Worth asking at the phone store about it.

Regarding battery life... I found mine was ok. I could get a whole days use out of it (including 2 hours of music on my commute and a bit of web surfing on the wi fi at work) if I didn't leave the 3G on all the time (some Android phones such as Galaxy you can't turn off 3G separately from the main signal which is a bit gay if you are abroad or want to conserve battery etc!). Though after 2 years I have to be more careful with the battery as it has got worse over time which is to be expected. Though if I don't turn signal on and barely use it I can get a few days which is good for camping etc.

True, its also needed for backup programs. However it does invalidate warranty and insurance so if you damage your phone or have a prob with it and need work you can't get it done. Something to think about.
