Most service providers are required by law to do this. That's what our IP Address is. It's pretty much a proprietary address that most websites log these days in order to see where a visit is coming from. On all of the websites I develop, I install a code that allows me to see what country, city and even general neighborhood you're visiting my site from, along with what Operating System you're visiting on, and which browser. It's pretty detailed shit, and scary at the same time.

In the U.S., just a couple years ago, I was sent a letter by the DMCA committee and RIAA to shut down one of my sites or that I will be sued for $300,000. I told them to go fuck themselves.
