Bite Back
flys can live all over the world in many different areas and coexist in areas of humans and reproduce rapidly compared to tigers, tigers can only live in certain areas and have to be remote from humans

Death_H...Sharks are endangered species that play a vital role in the ecosystem and are creatures that wonder the whole oceans... hundreds of millions of years being developed as the ultimate killing machine.
Cows are a species domesticated and bred by humans with little impact on the ecosystem themselves (excluding the deforestation to make way for farmland but that is a slightly different issue, not directly related).
Personally I am a total carnivore but watch what meat I eat... I haven't eaten cod in years for example and haven't stepped food in a Tescos for over 3 years (despite it being the ONLY local supermarket) once I discovered they were selling shark fun soup. I have other issues with Tescos on the local and community scale but that is an unrelated issue.

i know where i live i can drive 15min and see a shitload of cows but i dont know anywhere on my continent to see a tiger
(besides zoo)
cows are not really wild animals they are raised by humans and then used for milk and meat, they can coexist with humans, tigers and other wild animals are decreasing in number because their habitats are becoming smaller every passing day because humans are moving out into more remote areas and forcing the animals to small remote locations to fight for their survival and they get hunted illegally with out regulations for black market purposes for their coats and their meat

Death_H...Thanks to everyone for coming on the thread to discuss the issues! Keep it coming
Oh and don't forget...
A virus will reproduce in it's host to the point of killing it, essentially killing itself. So therefore humans are Gaia's virus.
While I agree something should be done (member of Greenpeace and Cal Wildlife Conservation), there is a much bigger problem that we face. Imo the big picture we should be concentrating on is global warming.
What good is it to protect a species if we're destroying the whole earth?
Agreed. Global warming is a big issue but hard to fight on a small scale individual level. I do my part though... my research is improving the efficiency and reducing the emissions of petrol engined cars.
Though that doesn't stop support of smaller ecosystems. As a diver I have a soft spot for sharks (LOVE diving with them) and marine life. I am a member of Bite Back and also an RSPB member.
There are small things we can all do together that can and would have a major impact. Stop eating/curb eating red meat, change all lights in your house to cfl bulb, recycle, compost and carpool a couple times a week
Also, everyone should write their congressmen/woman to pressure them to support the research for alternative fuels and stop being puppets for big oil.
touch my meat and there will be a fight on yur hands
To play devil's advocate, what makes sharks any different than cows? Here you are raising awareness for saving an animal species yet contribute to the killing of another by the millions?? lol

LMFAO!!! Have little impact on the eco-system?!?!?
Please, every year we continue more and more deforestation to make areas to raise cattle. Cows produce massive amounts of methane which is worse than CO2 in terms of global warming. In fact cows contribute more to global warming than cars. Now that's just the small picture, now think of all the CO2 that's emitted from the trucks that take the cows to the slaughterhouse and to your local market? Do you see how the problem becomes increasingly BIGGER.
If everyone stopped eating red meat it would contribute massive amounts to curbing global warming.
Once again, why save sharks if we're just going to destroy the earth? Sharks are no better than cows period, and to say different is mere ignorance and one's own perception.
the earth will end (period)
