Cannabis medicines were once the “drugs of choice” in the United States and all over this planet. Until they were declared illegal, they had been used in about 30 prescription medicines for a 100 specific medical problems in the US and for curing even more ills around the world.

In a cannabis study on cancer conducted in 1974, researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institute of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, instead found that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice - lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia.

The Drug Enforcement Agency shut down that study and buried that life saving information. In 2000, it was validated again when researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable brain tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis.

Believe it or not, a Harvard study released on April 17, 2007 shows that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread!

Researchers at Harvard tested the chemical THC in both lab and mouse studies. They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, THC actually activates naturally produced receptors to fight off lung cancer. The researchers suggest that THC or other designer agents that activate these receptors might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer.

Although a medical substitute of THC, known as Marinol, has been used as an appetite stimulant for cancer patients and other similar treatments, few studies have shown that THC might have anti-tumor activity.

*HERE IS THE INTERESTING PART* The only clinical trial testing THC as a treatment against cancer growth was a recently completed British pilot study. For three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors were reduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group. There was also about a 60 percent reduction in cancer lesions on the lungs in these mice as well as a significant reduction in protein markers associated with cancer progression.

cancer, but preserve normal cells.

found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals.

They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and

death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor.

The Guzman study is very important according to Dr. Ethan Russo , a neurologist and world

authority on medical cannabis: "Cancer occurs because cells become immortalized; they fail

to heed normal signals to turn off growth. A normal function of remodelling in the body requires

that cells die on cue. This is called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. That process fails to

work in tumors. THC promotes its reappearance so that gliomas, leukemias, melanomas and

other cell types will in fact heed the signals, stop dividing, and die."

"But, that is not all," explains Dr. Russo: "The other way that tumors grow is by ensuring

that they are nourished: they send out signals to promote angiogenesis, the growth of new

blood vessels. Cannabinoids turn off these signals as well. It is truly incredible, and elegant."

In other words, this article explains several ways in which cannabinoids might be used to

fight cancer, and, as the article says, "Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not

produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies.

Usually, any story that even suggests the possibility of a new treatment for cancer is greeted

with headlines about a "cancer cure" - however remote in the future and improbable in fact

it might be. But if marijuana is involved, don't expect any coverage from mainstream media,

especially since mainstream editors have been quietly killing this story for the past thirty years.

That's right, news about the abilility of pot to shrink tumors first surfaced, way back in 1974.

reaction that causes rejection of organ transplants, a Medical College of Virginia team has discovered.

" The researchers "found that THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers, and a virus-induced

leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent."

"News coverage of the Madrid discovery has been virtually nonexistent in this country. The news broke

quietly on Feb. 29, 2000 with a story that ran once on the UPI wire about the Nature Medicine article,"

a link that appeared briefly on the Drudge Report Web page. "The New York Times, The Washington Post,

and Los Angeles Times all ignored the story, even though its newsworthiness is indisputable: a benign substance

occurring in nature destroys deadly brain tumors," added Cowan.

On March 29, 2001, the San Antonio Current printed a carefully researched, bombshell of a story

by Raymond Cushing titled, "POT SHRINKS TUMORS; GOVERNMENT KNEW IN '74."

Media coverage since then has been nonexistant, except for a copy of the story on Alternet .

It is hard to believe that the knowledge that cannabis can be used to fight cancer has been suppressed

for almost thirty years , yet it seems likely that it will continue to be suppressed. Why?

According to Cowan, the answer is because it is a threat to cannabis prohibition .

"If this article and its predecessors from 2000 and 1974 were the only evidence of the

suppression of medical cannabis, then one might perhaps be able to rationalize it in some

herniated way. However, there really is massive proof that the suppression of medical

cannabis represents the greatest failure of the institutions of a free society, medicine, journalism,

science, and our fundamental values," Cowan notes.

Millions of people have died horrible deaths and in many cases, familes exhausted their savings

on dangerous, toxic and expensive drugs. Now we are just beginning to realize that while marijuana

has never killed anyone, marijuana prohibition has killed millions.

Cannabis compound 'halts cancer'

The CBD compound found in cannabis is non-toxic

A compound found in cannabis may stop breast cancer spreading throughout the body, US scientists believe.

The California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute team are hopeful that cannabidiol or CBD could be a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy.

Unlike cannabis, CBD does not have any psychoactive properties so its use would not violate laws, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics reports.

The authors stressed that they were not suggesting patients smoke marijuana.

They added that it would be highly unlikely that effective concentrations of CBD could be reached by smoking cannabis.

This compound offers the hope of a non-toxic therapy that could achieve the same results without any of the painful side effects

Lead researcher Dr Sean McAllister

CBD works by blocking the activity of a gene called Id-1 which is believed to be responsible for the aggressive spread of cancer cells away from the original tumour site - a process called metastasis.

Past work has shown CBD can block aggressive human brain cancers.

The latest work found CBD appeared to have a similar effect on breast cancer cells in the lab.

Future hope

Lead researcher Dr Sean McAllister said: "Right now we have a limited range of options in treating aggressive forms of cancer.

"Those treatments, such as chemotherapy, can be effective but they can also be extremely toxic and difficult for patients.

"This compound offers the hope of a non-toxic therapy that could achieve the same results without any of the painful side effects."

Dr Joanna Owens of Cancer Research UK said: "This research is at a very early stage.

"The findings will need to be followed up with clinical trials in humans to see if the CBD is safe, and whether the beneficial effects can be replicated.

"Several cancer drugs based on plant chemicals are already used widely, such as vincristine - which is derived from a type of flower called Madagascar Periwinkle and is used to treat breast and lung cancer. It will be interesting to see whether CBD will join them."

Maria Leadbeater of Breast Cancer Care said: "Many people experience side-effects while having chemotherapy, such as nausea and an increased risk of infection, which can take both a physical and emotional toll.

"Any drug that has fewer side-effects will, of course, be of great interest."

But she added: "It is clear that much more research needs to be carried out."

very interesting shit...i believe it could work as long as its consentrated and not smoked....and of course the bigwigs dont want it to take off because they wiil be a lot of rich people losing millions.

Its extremly hard to argue with these videos as the ppl in them seem (to me anyway) to be completly impartial and are telling the truth as well as providing detailed scientific explanations as well....now im no scientist but i believe what is being said and think its disgraceful that the government has not AT LEAST given these ppl some sort of funding to decide once and for all if it works but then that brings us back to the big money involved..what i think would be brilliant is if a private investor provided the money for conclusive research but then again if sum1 did that they would probably be labeled a DRUG DEALER. Also 1 last point ,it has been proved in the past that large pharmaceutical companies purposely hold back some drugs to make a bigger profit on others so it is very conceivable that they do not want this cannibus cure discovered as u will b able to grow it urself

Heard about the medicinal use of refined canabis oil before, but I'm still not inclined to spend an hour watching it.

I'm all for documentaries, especially informative ones, but the way it started up is 'fear mongering' and that's a medium I find disgusting, there's no point in lowering yourself by using those tactics to get the people behind you.

I might flick through it tomorrow or something just to hear what there is in it though.

If you read the research articles i posted from many different reliable sources then you will be in no doubt that cannibus has great medicinal properties, and that it has been witheld from the public for years.

You say that because at the start of the video they say the cure for cancer has been witheld for many years (which is the truth) that you dont want to watch the video. What would u like them to open with dave?

If you watch the video you will see a first hand account of many cancer survivors who traditional western thechniques had failed, and as a last resort triend ILLEGAL highly refiend cannibus oil to save their lives. Because they broke the law they are sill alive today, if they had not broke the law many, if not all of them would be dead now. You will also see what happens when they try to get the word out about how the refined cannibus oil has cured them, you will see what happens when then bring this information to their local authorities, media and doctors to try and get the good news out and help more people.

BUT of course, there are many herbal remedies people SWEAR by, that's why I'm always skeptical. It may help inhibit the spread of cancer cells, but that doesn't mean it's 'the cure'.

Surley , because of the results allready found in the official research ( and the un-offocial full cure cases like the ones in the video, they remain un-offocial only beause the docotors ect didnt want to know about how they had cured themselves illegally) Society should be embracing this and moving forward with it. Big Pharmacutical companies and governments medical research departments should be researching this heavily. Why are they doing the oppositie and giving this little to no research or media attention?

cannabis is the saviour, this one so called drug can cure so many things and help so many people its unreal, from illness's to money problems, u dont need to be a scientist to figure that out. the oil off this drug is pure and its one off the only plants that can produce an oil, this oil can be used for many things, u can even run ur car on it if u had enoff of it and yet arnt there countries going to war over oil wen u can grow it. wen cannabis is legalised and it will be the world will see a dramatic change in so many things, more research needs to be done on THC and CBD the tow active chemical compounds in cannabis, CBD is used in so many sedatives its unreal and it only comes from one main source. free the weed to free our people from slavery. i do believe the plant has mega healing properties the ancient Chinese used it all the time for healing purposes, and for cooking. we need more extensive research on the plant and not some government that will just cover up the truth because they kno the value off plant in question and what it can do for our people. dont u think its funny that our own government sells us things that give u cancer i.e. cigarettes alcohol, but yet a plant that has been proven to do no harm and only good it banned and made illegal, this is because the government dont want us to kno this, this is y wen researchers come out with the real properties off the product the government shuts them down. y because they will lose out in money not to mention the mass genocide that they want to commit but thats another story.
