I think the proper way would be "a lot"

hehe... i just finished my morphology exam... and find english more and more frustrating with the more and more i learn... when i was 11... i spent and hour... right lines after school in detention.... which consisted of "a lot is not one word" over and over for the whole hour.... I am beginning to wonder if KingTommy is in fact my teacher Mr Woodley...

Yes. My name is actually Tommy Woodley.
The only reason I bitch about improper use of English is because it's acceptable (if you're stupid) to say "Your going to get in alot of trouble over their." but it's not acceptable to say "2+2=5".
In reality, both statements are wrong. But for some reason, the first statement would get a lot less notice than the second.
awwww Mr Woodley was my favourite teacher... and your right... it is a fact... that exactness in Math is an expectation... but correctness in speech is not... we were talking today about how... one of the people in our class... had their son's friend over... and he was like... "this is actual real nice" when she corrected him... and said don't you mean "this is actually really nice" he looked at her like she was mental... and said... no i don't... it is actual real nice... lol... both times the dropping of the suffix ~ly just seemed like laziness to her... but he actually thought that it was the correct way of saying it...
what do you do? Maybe schooling system is actual real bad 'ere

I know the school system I grew up in didn't do a whole lot to help correct kids' language, so that might be a contributer in most cases. The parents probably didn't know any better either.
But I digress. Didn't mean to derail a resurrected 1 year-old thread. :P
Becareful... you might well get some iso time...

be careful*
I lold.
