Bohemian Grove is a 2,700-acre (1,100 ha) campground located at 20601 Bohemian Avenue, in Monte Rio, California, belonging to a private San Francisco-based men's art club known as the Bohemian Club. In mid-July each year, Bohemian Grove hosts a three-week encampment of some of the most powerful men in the world.[1][2]

The Bohemian Club's all-male membership includes artists, particularly musicians, as well as many prominent business leaders, government officials (including many former U.S. presidents), senior media executives, and people of power.[4][5] Members may invite guests to the Grove although those guests are subject to a screening procedure. A guest's first glimpse of the Grove is typically during the "Spring Jinks", in June, preceding the main July encampment. Bohemian club members can schedule private day-use events at the Grove any time it is not being used for Club-wide purposes, and are allowed at these times to bring spouses, family and friends, though female and minor guests must be off the property by 9 or 10 p.m.[6]

After 40 years of membership the men earn "Old Guard" status, giving them reserved seating at the Grove's daily talks, as well as other perquisites.

The Club motto is "Weaving Spiders Come Not Here", which implies that outside concerns and business deals are to be left outside. When gathered in groups, Bohemians usually adhere to the injunction, though discussion of business often occurs between pairs of members.[2] Important political and business deals have been developed at the Grove.[6] The Grove is particularly famous for a Manhattan Project planning meeting that took place there in September 1942, which subsequently led to the atomic bomb. Those attending this meeting, apart from Ernest Lawrence and military officials, included the president of Harvard and representatives of Standard Oil and General Electric. Grove members take particular pride in this event and often relate the story to new attendees.[2]

There are also sleeping quarters, or "camps" scattered throughout the grove, of which it is reported there were a total of 118 as of 2007. These camps, which are frequently patrilineal, are the principal means through which high-level business and political contacts and friendships are formed.[2]

In bohemian grove, in california , there is a large owl shaped statue. In old pagan lore there was a god called molak who resembeled an owl.

Every year a ceremony takes place at the owl statue in bohemian grove called The Cremation of Care. ( check wiki for details)

The ceremony takes place in front of the Owl Shrine, a 40-foot (12 m) hollow owl statue made of concrete over steel supports. The moss- and lichen-covered statue simulates a natural rock formation, yet holds electrical and audio equipment within it. For many years, a recording of the voice of club member Walter Cronkite was used as the voice of The Owl during the ceremony.[1] Music and pyrotechnics accompany the ritual for dramatic effect

What activities take place at the grove?

The grove is the site of a two week retreat every July (as well as other smaller get-togethers throughout the year). At these retreats, the members commune with nature in a truly original way. They drink heavily from morning through the night, bask in their freedom to urinate on the redwoods, and perform pagan rituals – including the “Cremation of Care”, in which the members wearing red-hooded robes, cremate a coffin effigy of “Dull Care” at the base of a 40 foot owl altar. Some (20%) engage in homosexual activity (but few of them support gay rights or AIDS research).

They watch (and participate in) plays and comedy shows in which women are portrayed by male actors. Although women are not allowed in the Grove, members often leave at night to enjoy the company of the many prostitutes who come from around the world for this event. Is any of this hard to believe? Employees of the Grove have said that no verbal description can accurately portray the bizarre behavior of the Grove’s inhabitants.

Besides this type of merriment, the annual gathering serves as an informational clearing house for the elite. At these gatherings men representing the government, military-industrial, and financial sectors meet and make major policy decisions.

The Manhattan project, which produced the first atomic bombs, was conceived at the Grove in 1942. Other decisions made at the Grove include who our presidential candidates will be. There are speeches, known as “Lakeside Talks”, wherein high-ranking officials disseminate information which is not available to the public-at-large.

A Description of the Pagan Rituals of Bohemian Grove

Interestingly - and very significantly - the roads which surround the government buildings at Capitol Hill in Washington DC (see the green area in the map below), when seen from the air form a shape remarkably similar to the shape of the owl used in the ceremony “Cremation of Care”.

The program cover for the ceremony “Cremation of Care” depicts a skeleton, a demon, and the huge owl illuminated by flames. A small white drawing above the name of the director depicts a demon or devil with the initials PJ sweeping something up with a witch’s broom.

At the entrance to one of the camp areas there is a skull with the words – “Je Suis LaFitte.” LaFitte was a French pirate. Because the text of the sign is unclear, it can be read as saying, “Je Suis La Fille.” The translation for “Je Suis La Fille” would be either, “I am the daughter,” or “I am the girl.”
