Well no one will bid more for an item than they can get it for on the open market, unless they aren't paying attention. The auction would be for the upscale items you don't see everyday.

With the current market system, adding an auction system would be illogical unless some items (like those which will never be available through the Warden) can only be traded through auctioning. This would increase the rarity of these items even more since normal trading wouldn't be available and any random user could bid for a chance to win the item. Sofas could easily reach 1m and more.

Bidding could work as so: I bid 300k on a placed sofa and I'm the current highest bidder. I need to have the cash at hand, my money then disappears. 2 hours later someone bids 500k so I decide to add another 300k to my current bid.

I could add money on an item until the auction ends. Taxes should be added on to bidders to prevent obvious abuses. Once the auction ends, if I don't win, my money is then returned to my cash on hands.

Possible, but you should also get the bid money back if you get outbid instead of waiting til the end of the auction. Just because you get outbid doesnt mean you are gunna want to put more up. I think it needs to be like the WoW auctionhouse. The seller puts the tax up. The item can have a minimum auction bid AND a buyout price, or just one or the other depending on the preference of the seller.
