Increase Federal Good Time Allowances
Hi All - glad to be a player and look forward to many smackdowns and levity -but, in all seriousness major issue wanted to bring to the table - Bill HR1475 Which will increase good time federal allowance of 54 days to 120 days per year. Would not only save billions in tax dollars for money that should go to something more useful like education, community needs and the like - if you are looking to find out more about it - check out Increase Federal Good Time Allowances
... also non-violent/ first time offenders being released earlier means less time family members need to wait to be reunited with their loved ones.As well these men and women can get back to their lives and support their families.
*/ H.R. 1475 will "Increase Federal Good Time Allowances" reducing the
federal prison population. There is no parole for federal offenses that
occurred after 01 November 1987. Federal inmates must serve 87% of
their sentences. Many are serving 20 years or more for a non-violent
offense. Just a ten percent (10%) reduction of the federal prison
population would save the taxpayers a minimum of $1.2 billion dollars
annually. DOJ has requested Congress to increase its budget to Maintain
Prisons, Detention, Parole and Judicial and Courthouse by $527.5
million dollars per year. See: http://www.justice.gov/jmd/2011factsheets/pdf/maintain-security.pdf.
