Ah, my grandfather was 1st gen born in the U.S. from Ireland. Not a plastic patty here, just saying I have recent roots. Planning a visit to see some family there hopefully soon. Trying to do it before my grandpa passes ya know. He always says there is nothing like it.

This may be a good place to ask this. My grandpa spoke of when he was a kid he had a real bad breakout of warts on one of his hands. He said that his dad cut a potato in half and said something in Gaeilge. Within a couple of days all the warts were gone and never returned. Any clue on some of the old world rituals like that? I had a hard time believing it, but then again my grandpa is a depression baby and his word is his word, so I have to believe it.
