Well I haven't been on too much lately due to working on another shift and in another quarry. With that said, I had a pretty bad accident yesterday. I operate a CAT 980 front end loader that weighs roughly 80,000lbs. Well I was cleaning up our ramp (ramp is about a 1/8th mile long and about a 30% down grade-so it's steep) from rocks in the road and one of our haul trucks (weighing in at 100,000+) started coming down hill.

Since I am a loader and he is a haul truck driver we operate on different CB channels during certain hours. Well, needless to say I couldn't hear him when he started yelling for me to get out of the way and that he had no breaks. Our crusher operator switched channels but it was too late and he hit me doing about 30 MPH. The last thing I remember was his bumper about to hit my loader and hearing a loud bang, things went black and dead silent after that. I woke up to my loader still moving down hill, but now I was facing the opposite direction and moving towards the crusher. Before I past out again, I managed to drop my bucket to the ground and hit my E-brake.

All in all the driver ended up with some bruised ribs and a cut above his eye. WHileI thought I was the fortunate one and just being sore, I had some x-rays done today and I have 2-3 possible compression breaks on my vertebra (aka a broken back).

I don't know what is compelling me to write this on here, a video game forum on the net, but I guess some hope that maybe some positive thoughts may help in some way. Anyway, sorry for the ramble Suzy26. Thanks for reading at least.

wow i hope u'll be okay man but u probably should recieve worker compensation for that acident and u should stay away from heavy machinery for a while
