The thing I don't understand with our foreign policy is our definition of "interests". That term is thrown around a lot and is pretty vague. I don't understand why it is in our interest to have over 1000 bases around the world. Perhaps someone can explain it to me better, but isn't it hypocritical to say we support democracy and then prop up certain factions in other countries governments that we deem is best for them (and us)? Some of our actions are definitely justified, but it almost seems like government has become kind of paranoid. We have like 40,000 troops in Japan that they don't even want there. If we were to leave and say, Japan is our ally if you attack them we will attack you, do you think they would actually try and attack Japan?

in my humble opinion its to keep tabs on countries.. strategically there are locations in the world which allow quick deployment of troops. but with new droid technologies, you dont even need a single person to attack a country. i guess its along the same reasons why no one has left Afghanistan to this date $$$ dolla dolla billz. and before anyone says it, no one cares that they dont have democracy, no one cares how they treat women or their citizens. look at Saudi Arabia, whom has American support if you think otherwise.

I agree 100% henny...as someone who has served in the military..I have been to plenty of countries where we have bases and the population does not support us or want us....I say bring those troops and paychecks home....why prop up other economies w/ our tax dollars if we are not appreciated.

i live in middle america im surrounded by crazies dude bunch of gun totin , worried bout who the hell marries who gonna stab whoever i can in the back 6 days a week and go get forgave on sunday for it ! who picks out parts of the bible that they like and forget the rest !hipocrates no thank u man ... everyone of them needs to smoke a joint and live there own lives and quit worrying bout what every body else is doing !!!! be more like john lennon
