American life expectancy is avg. 77 yrs old (less for men more for woman) So we should only be able to enjoy retirement for 9 yrs? I worked all my life to relax for 9 yrs?

c'mon worm,ik you have somewhat of a clue..social security was never designed as someones sole retirement savings plan, unfortubately some and maybe yourself see it as that....if you"ve worked "your whole life" and are only relying on ss income then that a problem on your part..if you think i'm working till 62-65 or 67 then thats just crazy..save,401ks,ira's or a multitude of other retirement plans are avaible to 100% of the country, put in a little or put in alot, and before you blow up and say most people have nothing to put in,look around, saving for retirement is hard and takes sacrafice..even the little things like a pack of smokes or a coffee at dd....now this is off thread topic, but i feel sorry for the hard working folks that rely solely on ss.....i'll be "relaxing" at 55...because i sacrificed and planned accordingly.

nah man he gonna spend spend spend and live up the life now, then get to 62 and retire and then bitch about how he isn't getting enough from SS to survive and how he paid into the system and now he's not getting his fair share.

edit: this is all assuming social security is still around by then, you know they have that lockbox and all.
