much like the situation in Iran, I don't think Barak has the balls to handle NK. He'll continue to try diplomatic solutions, while they develop a super EMP that can destroy our electric grid.

Obama is reticent to use military force compared to previous presidents. north korea wants nukes, that would destabilize the region. But i'm fairly confident that at worst, we would let our proxy in the region handle it (south korea).

the US is protecting South Korea, N. Korea could steamroll the south if they wanted, especially with the backing of the Chinese just think of what happened in the original korean conflict, once china flexed their muscle everyone backed off.

North Korea is pretty much untouchable right now.

Well then start building your shelters San Francisco (the only place in America that the NK's can reach with their nukes) bcus the north have threatened to invade the south if they sign the new UN resolutions

United States has the raw military capability to wipe North Korea off the map in hours. North Korea has the raw military capability to make us mad. The question is, to what extent is each side willing to USE its capability. I have little doubt the leadership of North Korea is willing to commit national suicide. Fact is, we still have a very large number of troops stationed in South Korea, some of them literally on the border with North Korea. These men and women are more than capable of reigning down some serious pain should North Korea be foolish enough to start a war with us. Plus, we have awesome missiles that would have no trouble hitting them back should they attempt such a foolish thing.

Now to further elaborate on China stance if this was to ever happened. I don't see China letting the United States go to war with North Korea alone or letting the US take the whole Korean Peninsula. China did not allow it years ago so i don't see them allowing it now either. With that being said and giving this slim chances, the only way I can see this happening is if North Korea nukes South Korea first. Then the US would go to war with the North and China would either decide to invade North Korea itself or stay out.
