There could be a small note section either on your rap sheet or as another selection from the menu list.
I suggest this for a couple of reasons.
Basically its just an ingame notepad.
1. There are times when you are doing transactions that it would be nice to note what sold for what or who has what.
2. Listing things you have on the market.
3. Noting why youve added people to various lists
Im sure there are other reasons that this could be used, these are just a few that popped into my head.
