I had trouble sleeping last night and this idea came to me.

Why not give a little virtual reality to our inmates?

Once gangs are implemented, they could eventually receive a

Virtuatron 3000. An experimental-realistic-3D-game-console-helmet.  I’ll cut the silly story there and get to the

point.

Gang quests!

The overall idea:

There would be different modes/realities. Realities could

contain one or several lvls. Completing a reality would give each participating

inmates a prize; a ticket which could be exchanged to the Warden for a random, awesome

item, or a passive bonus. Also, upon totally completing a reality, the inmate

would a have a stamp on his public profile proving his awesomeness.

The realities and how they would work:

Different realities could be called as so; Epic (fantasy

land with dragons and swords and shits), Ghetto, Safari, Sci-fi, etc.

Each Reality would have 3 different types of character

classes chosen accordingly to your stats (str, def, spd) and 3 major types of

characters for each classes, chosen accordingly to your current lvl… I’ll clear

this up with an example.

Let’s take the Epic mode for example: These are just ideas;

Strength oriented character could be, from lowest to

highest: Dwarf, Troll, and Mountain Giant

Defense oriented: Knight, Mutated Humanoid Crocodile, and a

badass Earth Golem

Speed oriented: Halfling, Elf…Chuck Norris, I really don’t

know

So let’s say that every lvl 5 or under inmate who participates in

this Reality are transformed into the first of their dominating stat, those between

lvl 6 and 10, to the second, and those who are lvl 11 and above to the last

one.

I’m lvl 5 and I have 1000 str, 500 def, and 350 speed. My

character will be the Dwarf and my stats will be randomized accordingly to the

Reality. So I might have 20 hp, 10 str, 5 def and 2 spd. So anyone str oriented

between lvl 1 and 5 would have similar stats, that is, stats that reflects the

Dwarf in that Reality. Each class would also have a skill. Every str oriented

characters in the Epic reality could have a crit chance. Dwarves 25%, Trolls

50%, Giants 75%. Defense oriented could have a chance to block any attacks and

speed characters could have a chance to attack multiple times. These are just

examples.

If you’re wondering what’s with the stat reduction… well it’s

simply to add balance and prevent hardcore players to solo the gang quests. It

takes A LOT more time to upgrade stats then to lvl up. It’s also a lot easier

for the developers to create and balance different Realities if they can

control everyone’s stats, + it adds complexity to the game. Gang wars might be

more oriented stats wise and Gang quest might be more oriented lvlwise. Also,

every serious gang looking forward to complete the quests will want stat

diversity and people will be more encouraged to go in different path stat-wise.

Sounds complicated? It really isn’t. Let’s take the Epic

Reality again. It has one lvl and to complete that lvl we have to kill 10 predefined

creatures. It’s the Son’s of Anarchy vs these 10 creatures. They have 7 people

signed up for the quest and it starts in…. now.

The fight works in rounds, fastest to slowest. People don’t

attack twice because they have 2 times more speed than the creatures. It’s basically

like a good old turned based rpg, except that the fight is auto. If they win

they receive a ticket, if they lose they can try again in a week.

With one Epic ticket you would go to the Warden and he would

exchange it for a random item related to that Reality. That Reality could have 3

different items related to it and you would have, for example, 10% chance to

get the rarest one, 30% for the uncommon and 60% to receive the common. These

items would obviously not be tradable at the market.

Thanks for reading and I hope this wasn’t too hard to follow.
