We should cater to minorities not shun them. America the melting pot? MY ASS. I do believe signs, and stuff should be other than English, I like that consistancy but the attitude America and the American education system has about it is nothing but hostility towards other languages and cultures. So in affect after 2 generations, people don't know their own culture. We have a big Italian community here, after 2 generations NONE of them know italian. It's sad. They just become known as "American Italians".

Ya i understand in usa and canada that english is number 1 but i just find it funny that people here get all pissed off when someone cant speak english but i travel alot to thailand and always see american or canadian people getting pissed when someone there doesnt understand what they are talking about. I think everyone in north america should chill out because all are families came from somewhere else

point taken, well thats just being human and helping people. I work in the medical field and knowing other languages better help me as a professional and help patients who cannot speak english. But if you onced lived in a country that spoke one language and came to the US to better your life then learning English would have to be a priority.
