What about a way to post "Smart Ads" towards the top of the page?

For instance, I list an amenity in the OM, and I want to sell it. Yes, I post it in the Marketplace forums, but let's say I'm doing a firesale/backwards auction that lasts 15 minutes only. If I could pay a couple favors to post an ad at the top of the page that lasts for a short period of time, I'd be cool with that.

You could have a couple options:

Ad in your prison for 15 minutes: 3 favors

Ad for all prisons for 15 minutes: 5 favors

Ad in your prison for 1 hour: 5 favors

Ad for all prisons for 1 hour: 10 favors

Ad for your prison for 24 hours: 20 favors

Ad for all prisons for 24 hours: 50 favors

If there are multiple listings, the ads would rotate.

and of course there is a "Report Ad" button so people don't misuse it. This wouldn't necessarily pull the ad off, but would lead to a review of the ad during staff's business hours and lead to iso or ban if it's highly abused. I don't think people would pay favors to abuse it too much.

Another way to combat spammers creating dummy accounts to post these ads for other sites or whatever, would be to put a constraint on who can post; say no one under 7 days old can post a smart ad.

one of the most creative ideas in awhile..i like it..but would be hard to control misuse of it

the report button would send the ad in question to the staff to review. if enough people report it, then the person could suffer consequences like:

1st time offense: 24hr iso

2nd time: 10 day iso

3rd time: perm iso

and if a bunch of people just report the ad because they don't like the person, then they all get iso'd, if the ad is appropriate and doesn't break any rules.

Of course, rules would be:

1. no links outside of game

2. no hate ads (racist, sexist, etc)

3. no sexual ads

but think about the possibilities of what it could be used for:

1. selling amens/items

2. buying amens/items

3. recruiting for gangs (annoying, yes, but if they want to pay the favors, then go for it)

4. sending hugs and kisses to your prison bitch

5. announcing that you're leaving the game for the 6th time
