They don't even care about the items when they start mainly every level 1-3 all they do is crime unless tells them exactly what they have to do they wont learn anything unless that happens

I'd have to agree and chime in with the people who think the amount of items suggested is really excessive.

If someone could hit up SD, relatively easily/quickly because of the amens and items given, I think you'd run the risk of padding that prison's numbers with people who would end up quitting over the daily curb stomping they get, in their (relatively) terrible cells and state of noobness.

I think you need to separate the two issues of bringing in new players/retaining new players and encouraging older players to want to level up.

For the former, I do believe a decent starter kit is a great idea, a revised "tutorial", not encouraging folk to run out and try and mug/attack people from the get go, would be good, too. The amount of players in the first couple of prisons, in really shitty cells, with no items is sad.. A lot of those players give up when they get whooped all the time because they've not understood just how bad for their account it is to try mugging or attacking people from day one. There's no restarting, once you move out of the nooby zone, your level of enjoyment can nosedive fast if you're an easy target.

For the latter issue there's several factors that come into play... but that's not the focus of this thread.

I understand your point, lets for a second pretend that we give them just the right amount of items to make (and let them want) to level up to AZ; what is going to stop people from treating them the way SD does? hell why not Putnam or any of the other prisons where theres always someone stronger than you? I understand that theres more level squatters down there that are worried about exp, but you could live on your last 10% exp for months down there even though youre gaining exp from attacks..

and im afraid that if we "knock a zero off" like a few other suggested, were going to end up creating a bunch of level squatters which only forces us to deal with another issue

so basically i think that what ever problems they can encounter in SD will without a doubt be available for them in any of the other prisons, maybe a bit less but its still there..And whatever they need to work on after being "padded" (cells, items etc) they might aswell do in SD, if anything being the small fish in the big pond will motivate them- been there done that.

You're absolutely correct, people can (and do) experience the same problems in the lower prisons, I merely meant that people could be unwittingly thrown into the 'shark tank' way sooner than they could possibly be ready for, if they've the items to get there, for free. The mountain to climb to be competitive in the top prison would be an extremely high one, potentially a deal breaker if you've not had the time to build a good cell and gain a few contacts. - There's no taking a step back, to slow down and work out what you're doing if you've reached the end prison, already.

This is off the original topic slightly, but, regarding the level squatters - A subject I know you feel passionately about (you've mentioned it once or twice in posts before ) Some things to consider:

1)Some people really just enjoy trolling the SD folk from the lower prisons - It's their enjoyment of the game.

2)Getting a *good* cell together takes time and/or money

3)This game is fairly unusual in that there are no tangible rewards for gaining levels - I mean there's no extra features/abilities and the like that 'open up' as you level, (to my knowledge) so the incentive to level is different on this game, particularly when you combine it with the first two points. Most every game allows your character to become stronger as you level, fairly standard stuff, but they almost always offer you fun new rewards for gaining those levels, too.

4)The players (like yourself) who've been here quite a while have one hell of a head start on newer players and unless you're willing to start throwing around great wads of cash (very unlikely as a brand new player) it will literally take years to catch up, to become one of the strongest.

i dont think the point of a starter pack is to become the weakest person in sd...it would be a tool used to get use to how amens work and the value they hold toward training/criming... your 2nd point is yes getting a decent cell is hard..especially from nothing..crime with `15 nerve and gain 400$ in the beginning doesnt add up fast hence needing a little help of a starter pack...but too your 3rd point, i think there is a misconception on how hard it is to become strong on here...your reward for leveling is more cash per crime and more nerve/nrg/stm...these add up and make criming for better amens easier and way faster, your trains increase and you become stronger faster...i think level 1-10 is the hardest part of this game...once you get going its pretty easy as long as your main goal isnt pissing people off..lol
