Scientific theory is the same thing, except without angels and resurrection and stuff. Check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_crunch .. Basically the exact thing, people predict the universe will collapse over itself from huge expansion. Only thing is no one knows if that's tomorrow or a billion years from now. But even if rapid GW happened, we'd still have life on earch just harder life
