You're right Jay, I just read about it and it is a cartoonist that created the draw day on facebook... I believe Thunderf00t is one of the main person to direct people to her page though.

About what you said; "[...] but just because they mentioned what happened to Theo van Gogh the media picked it up as if they were insinuating they were going to kill them!". Don't be naive, if an extremist group makes a reference to what "their group" did to someone in the past, there are high chances that they are simply, "politely", stating what they might do if that particular person don't comply.

I don't know why you're trying to defend the actions of extremists Jay. No matter how offensive something is to another, no one deserves to die over it. Everyday I see, read or hear something that offends me and I haven't killed, nor even threaten to kill, anyone. There's no place in our society for such barbaric acts over drawings.

And about Van Gogh, I haven't seen the movie in question, but I'm sure he didn't deserve to die over it. And I don't know about you, but every time I see a documentary about these old cultures, I see oppression in diverse forms. So even if Van Gogh's film was anti-Muslim, I'm sure his 10 minutes of filming conservative Muslims wasn't far off reality.

You said: "It just pisses me off how people expect there to be NO retaliation when you insult someones core beliefs." So, each time someone criticizes your religion, should we expect a death? And this is exactly what this is all about; Muslim extremists (a supposedly minority) oppressing freedom (In the name of their sociopathic God) because of their beliefs. And Western culture expressing freedom (which they fought to earn) and continuing of doing so because of theirs.

See this is already labeling a small groups of people who post news critical of the US and Israel as "extremists" thus anything they say is moot? They made no threats I read their site but they held a position (a warning perhaps?) that the creators of south park are setting themselves up to be attacked. They gave precedent (Theo van Gogh); but again like I said these News organizations like FOX News picks it up with the headlines "NY BASED 'EXTREMIST GROUP THREATENS...", based on a statement critical of their cartoon? Like really? Not only did they demonize people expressing an opinion but they put them in severe danger. De Ja Vu

But you're missing another piece of the puzzle here. "It's just offensive, no one deserves to die, etc". Well I'd agree-- if Muslims weren't being bombed day in and day out like what happened in Iraq, you can't separate Muslims reactions and confine them to a specific event. You have to look at the big picture, Iraqi estimates were well over 1 million civilians were killed in fighting (from an unjust war in most people's minds), so then couple that with the fact that now the US population is mocking the Islamic religion, prophet, and God? This is where violence comes from, the insults the attacks on Islam those have been done in the past, and are still being done what makes it different is there's an active war being fought against Muslim nations, and financial support to other nations which actively fight Muslims as well. This is where violence meets violence. How is America more justified than anyone else?

Lastly, I want to make mention of "Extremist" versus "Non Extremist", it seems there are well, a lot of Non Muslims making the call as to what's a believer in Islam, when they really mean "You're practicing your religion in a way I don't approve of" they say "extremist", why? Because any other way would look like peoples beliefs being infringed upon. Most everyone hated the Bush administration, however, the majority of Americans ate up what he said. "Terrorists", "They hate our freedom", are all expressions common to explain the epidemic of anti-western behavior, instead of actually looking as to WHY the two worlds (Islamic v. Western) are clashing, we just summarize in one line why it's happening, that is illogical and LEADS to misunderstandings and violence.
