If people could send you amenities there wont be any more sniping, so everyone could be happy with the deal that make

The reason being is because my friend tryed to sell me a red book and somebody else got it before I did 

the game was built to allow you to send messages and money to other players, not items or amenities. Putting things on the market as a means of "sending" it to another player is actually getting around a system that was intentionally built into the game. So the general stance is "tough shit" if it doesn't work out the way you had hoped when somebody snipes your goods.
