CeesDaG...yeah my car shook a lil cause i was close to the water by manhattan beach.....kinda figured it was either the car acting up or it was a quake...i seen mad ppl running outside of their jobs so i figured it had to be a quake...East Coast dont play around, the earth shake and we get the fuck out of Dodge

hokiefanI call my brother out there and the service is down...but the text message still worked and he in VA
thanks Vic, finally got a hold of my sister. all good there, kids are just scared, but doesn't seem to be anything major
I know folks on the west coast are laughing at our little 5.9, i'm sure they feel this stuff every week.

hmm first I have ever been in. I guess where it was not very deep, 3 or 4 miles, made it resonate much further and more violently.
PsychoS...
that's part of why i moved back out here, solid earth under your feet used to be the one thing you count on the east coast for

Na man, here on the west coast it's a different story. I live in Oregon now, but have lived in So Cal before. Difference in the two coasts is that west coast have built the structures in preparation for such events, or to the best of their abilities/funding. Where as the East Coast is older and aren't prepared for that type of event.
5.9 on buildings that aren't structurally prepared is no joke man. I hope everyone on PB who's on the East Coast is OK!

Thats why I sent everybody home, and damn near everything in DC& MD was shut down. Some stores are back open but for the most part everybody got the hell out of dodge.

I don't blame you Worm. Hell, I am only 37 miles from the coast here and if the Cascadia Subduction Zone ever pops off in my lifetime we are screwed on getting to high ground. lol

Hope no one's hurt...

PsychoS...Fortunately(?) looks like the biggest worry now is the nuclear plant they had to shut down that was right at the epicenter. Doesn't seem to be any reports of death or major damage at this point.
