i live in germany and that's exactly my expierience with soldiers. some class mates joined the military after school, most of them was for long years victims of bullies (no, not me. i was a honest guy). and later i met some soldiers, majority were a living clichee, chavvy, only runned their mouth in a bunch, pickin' on weaker than them, etc, i'm sure you know such people.

i'm a conscientious objector, this possibility is given in germany. i worked 10 months in a residental for handicapped children instead of beeing drilled to kill!

i know some people in israel that refused to join the army, there's a much higher price for them. one of the few possibilities there not to waste 3 years of life is to get marked as mental ill. it stands in their passes and they're not able any more to get a lot of jobs for example.
