i plan to join the navy and i know it ain't all about war they do humanitarian stuff like Aid to countries in Need like HAITI. maybe you don't agree with joining the army because personal opinions BUT in the US no one forces you to join The Military except the maybe overdone advertising to recruit more personnel. Since the War in Iraq has already started might as well finish what they started otherwise all the soldiers that died was for jack shit. Military isn't always just for people with bad grades or shit like that. personally i think it takes deep thought of consideration of joining the military.

this is for the "Americans"....of the USA......how sad it is that people have no respect for the US flag and what it stands for anymore. I support every soldier there is, and i even pick the tab up when they come in to my Subway to eat if they are in uniform. In a perfect world, everyone would get along and there would be peace, but this is not and never will be a perfect world. I happen to live in a 'free' country, and I applaud the men and women, for whatever their reasons, that made the decision to serve our country.  if u dont like living in the usa, feel free to leave and make room for those who do. love it or leave it, support those who r willing to risk their lives so we can be 'free', or shut up

Robin Williams portrays the American flag.

You know i was going to write a big ass reply to you TWM but you have

your opinions and i have mine, i will just say that if you can convince

the terrorists of the world to lay down their arms and make flower

rings with you then i'll be happy to admit that you're right, that we don't need

armed forces at all to protect us.

Being in the army isn't for people with bad grades at all, every person in the army is highly educated to do their particular job. These people want to serve their country and do us proud, their brave and noble men who are willing to risk their lives for everyone in their country. It winds me up so much that people think being in the army is for low life people, well listen up, IT'S NOT!! I think the people that are against people being in the army should have a rethink on what they're saying, my dad was in the army and has come out now. If am honest, a military life is really good and it's a well paid job as well.

If it wasnt for military service a good portion of the mainstream world wouldnt exist. A majority of political leaders are former military. Many CEOs and leaders of industry are former military.

Many people do go into the military because they see no other choice. There is also a large percentage that go into it for patriotic reasons. There are many like myself, that went in because the choices I had after highschool werent to my liking and I wasnt ready for college.

I went in because it was a priviledge IMO to serve my country.. no matter what the reasons were behind what we were and are doing.  I also knew that it was a good way to get one form of education and have my college paid for as well.

I am far from the brain-dead unintelligent person most people believe inhabit the armed forces. In fact I had my choice of colleges both from an academic and athletic stand point.

Without bragging, I have done very well for myself since I got out. I am still proud of my service time and have many friends today from that time.

People want to blame the military for the view of the US around the world. Let us not forget that the military is a tool. Just like diplomacy. How they are perceived is mainly based on how they were and are used by the government. Do all servicemen/women believe what the government says? HELL NO. But we did take an oath to follow orders and protect this country.

If you have never served in the military, you might not realise that alot of change in the government and the world comes from us.

I will and have fought for people to have the right and the ability to say think and feel what they want. SO if you think negatively of the military, that is your right. Just as it is my right to disagree with you and to tell you to STFU.

So enjoy the ability to play an online game and curse people out while having food on your table and hopefully a job that you chose and like. Enjoy the fact that you can go to and from work and whatever you do for outside entertainment without having to worry about roadside bombs or kidnappings or other negative things. Enjoy the fact that if you are an American, you can read this message in English, not Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish or any one of a number of languages you could have to read this in if it wasnt for the military.
