making amenities available to everyone
UnsignedThe prices are high because you can sell them for real money. People I have talked to are stock pilling in hopes of cashing out and making money.
Ban people doing this and the prices will drop real quick guaranteed. Thats the only problem I see with the game.
Sorry if you dont like this thread but thats the reason why even CD players are over 50k right now.
BitchTitslet me get this straight... you expect mu to ban people who stockpile items with an intent to make real money out of them. you might as well ask mu to also ban people who spend real money on this game other than for favors or getting respected. YOU SIR FAIL
No ones selling CD players for real money, the cause of higher prices comes down to a few things
1) As the game progresses what was a lot 2, 3 months ago is now, not a lot, and since the highest bidder sets the price trends, the prices for amens go up for everyone. That's just the nature of the game, personally I do feel it's unbalanced.
2) All it takes is one douche monkey to list a loser amenity for 200,000, then all the other newbs follow, so then it goes from 200k, 150k, 100k, etc, instead of the original low prices of like 10-20k. One guy usually has the power to fuck it all up.
3) Auctions for everything, if there was a lively environment going on in the markets, lots of amens going in and out putting em up fast, selling em fast, the prices would go down but because seeing basic amens on the market are rare the next person to list it has control of the open market price (see point 2 to understand the adverse affects of this)
You could say another point is real money auction but these are on rare amens that you probably wont be able to afford for a while anyway.. I bitch a lot about prices of shit, and hoarders but when It comes down to it what I mean is the basic shit, a player should be able to get be comfortable in NJ, and Putnam, without needing to spend real cash. Unfortunately it's not the case. The game needs to be more balanced where you can still do good without needing 10s of million in items.

UnsignedI knew most wouldnt agree and thats fine but Im not just talking about 1 CD player. If you sell a bunch of things and have something like 10 CD players someone will buy all 10 for a few bucks.
And yes paying customer or not if they break the rules Im sure this game would have no problem banning them. Just because you pay cash doesnt mean you can break rules.
When Wii's are going for 150 bucks, and PS3s and Elites are going for 60,70,80 bucks then you know what people are going to hang on to them and sell em for real cash down the road. But just because a lot of small shit is bundled into cell auctions doesn't mean it has an affect on the prices in the open market, the way I see it is-- only RARE amens are affected by pay auctions because they're the ones that net significant cash anything that isn't like a console, clean toilet, or coal go for money you can find on the street, so they don't affect the prices on the market.
If you're talking about basic amens like I said, it has to do with people not listing shit, and letting a few guys fluctuate prices. I'm starting to think amen open markets should be per prison, instead of open to all prisons, because what's a lot to a NJ members isn't a lot to anyone else, so let their market flourish because they'd be making the prices, same for every other prison. Like i said that's where unbalenced play come into work here.
This makes no sense. Plenty of amens are available in the warden's office. You can easily do good without them. If you CHOOSE to go after a rare amenity, well then prepare to pay a premium for it!
I'm not going to enforce how people sell off their items, it's an open market and economy. Even games like WoW, with all the money and moderators behind them can't stop people selling off accounts and items. I don't see a point in even trying to be honest. If the items were obtained legitimately then they're theirs to do with what they want.
*edit* As for amenities on the market, I honestly don't remember why that's the only one open to all prisons -- I think it was to encourage trading since there were amens available in only certain prisons (like the candles) so a low level had the chance of selling a rare amenity to someone who couldn't visit NJ or Putnam anymore.

That wasn't the point I was trying to get across I understand you can get adequate amenities from the Warden's office, what I'm saying is the more the big dogs have to spend the more the good shit will cost; not just for them in AZ but for everyone. That's just economics.
I can consider isolated amenity markets for prisons, but at the moment, my focus is elsewhere
When it comes to that perhaps just the NJ market should be isolated, especially with LA coming, I think free trade should still exist and be encouraged but in a way where newbies aren't the ones bearing the brunt of it. If you see the main concern with price increases is generally directed at level 6 and down. Something on the market for cheap, higher levels snatch it n try to make a profit from it.
Letting the get their feet on the ground will encourage them to progress further anyway.
I think that's a fair suggestion, especially since Level 1s are already isolated from a lot, NJ is like the level 1 prison.
That's one reason I try not to level too high, it's easy to lose touch with what a lower-level goes through.
