i have 5 tickets for this upcoming lottery... if i win, great, a wii and $1mill+... i'm presuming it'll be the only Wii so i'll auction it off for at least $800,000... then boom, i'm rich as shit.

if i don't win...eh, who cares? i'll try and mug whoever did win

Law of probability. There are currently 2119 entries in this weeks lottery. Lets take this number as an average. If you put in one ticket each week, you would need to put the one ticket 2119 times in a row in order to be guaranteed a win. If you put in two each week, two tickets a week for 1060 weeks. Three tickets? 706 weeks.

Point being, your odds are not that great. Even if 2119 doesnt seem that large a number, upon closer inspection, even putting in 100 tickets a week would only guarantee a win in 22 weeks. 22 weeks is a long time. Thats almost half a year. Good luck with that.
