Every player is better than someone else. So everybody has a chance to get items from players. Failing that, fight NPCs. Modify your stats, stay above 80%, and you'll win 100% of the time. No players modify stats to find wining combos for events for some reason... It's not like you don't have a million extra amenities.
I think the real problem here is every player wants to win every time. In a competitive environment, this is simply not possible. You can all get entry-level rewards, but, sorry, not everybody will leave this event with gold stars.
