Hey guys,

I've been around long enough to see that PayPal players aren't really highly-respected by a lot of the OG's here. With that said, I'd like to offer my opinion about the matter, and then let y'all share yours, as I'm still fairly new to PB...

I paid for two amens via PayPal, and bought some favors and Respected status. For me, it's just because I don't plan on leveling up soon; I want to continue to be a runner. The RP status allows me to get a higher bank account, which isn't much at level 6, but it still protects me from higher-ranked muggers when I'm stackin in cash between runs. The only amens I purchased via PP were ones that I need to help boost just those speed stats I need to ensure I'm that much faster than the majority of players within my prison.

Now, with that said, I have seen a handful of players who have powertrained their ways to AZ within a week or two, and have also seen players buy out amens when they're listed in the forum Marketplace.

As I can see how annoying this might be for higher-level players who have organically reached their levels, there are some factors to consider here: For limited time items, it's hard for newer players to save up enough eds or get enough cash at their levels in order to get the deal they want on amens when they come around. By the time it takes them to get the needed eds and such, the deal is gone. Paypal is an easy solution.

I've been lucky enough to find a couple of great amens from Joe when he comes to visit, so I haven't had to resort to PayPal much. And I also have a great gang that loans spare amens as I need it, according to my level.

But do you guys also realize that the players that donate to PB and buy favors and RP status are actually paying for the right to keep this game free?

I come from a strong advertising background, and I'll be the first to say that websites cost money to run, which I'm sure most of you know. So you can complain all you want about how much of a bitch someone is for paying the money out of pocket to become a higher level player, when in fact, you have worked your ass off and spent more time to get the things you need... But the truth of the matter is that it's players like us who keep the game running and keep it free.

With that said, I hope that I don't have to depend on my PP account in order to keep up with you higher levels when it comes time for me to level up, but it's there in case I do need it. Your advantage is that you've been playing the game longer. My advantage is that I'm a hard-working individual who has worked 90/hours a week for 10+ years to get where I am today, and luckily, I have deep enough pockets to buy what I need to in order to keep up with you more experienced and older players.

I do think it's a fair balance, if I say so myself

What do you all think, and why is it such a huge controversy, especially for older and more experienced players? I'd love to get your feedback on this matter.

it's not that people who paypal aren't respected, I paypal and I think I have a fair amount of respect. Most people who are hated for paypalling, do it excessively. As in they either ruin a 'WTS' thread that's been successfully bidding in game items with a paypal bid, or who buy amens for game cash/items, get amens from firesales and game events, and paypal them. If you paypal with... 'good intentions' (like actually playing the game, or re-selling for game items) then nobody really cares about it. o.o
