31642013Hmmmmmmmh....... loans, I dunno...... gonna keep it realistic...... if an inmate's account got seized by the government because of the crime he goes to jail for (fraud for example, whatever!) then what interest would the government have in enabling such an inmate to have access to a loan system similar to this of any outside financial institution?
I guess that the 'required approval' concept which was brought up could serve as an incentive for inmates to be on their best behavior in order to get a loan approved. If the warden thinks you dont deserve it, he can refuse you a loan.
Dont get me wrong, never been to jail. I like to think I'm smart enough to stay out of such trouble. However it is a luxury. We already have a bank. The point of a prison is to make you appreciate the liberties of the outside world by breaking you while you are a 'resident' and letting you have nothing that you didnt earn through consistency of hard labor (or business smarts).
And as for the Warden's Enforcers (Banker gang, whichever you wanna call it), an idea pops to mind. When and IF you are granted approval for a loan a set time limit to pay back could be imposed, varying in length according to the amount you are borrowing.
Say you wanna borrow 100K, you got one week to pay it back, and the enforcers could put you in infirm once every night (say for an entire hour so you can really feel it) to make sure you're courteously reminded of the Warden's awesome generosity as well as his dislike for people owing him money personally. If you still didnt pay after one week, then the visits become increasingly frequent, and also an interest is added on top of the loan.
(Bribe the Enforcers to avoid a beating?)
But all in all, it would sure involve either a LOT of personal judgement calls from Mufasa, dummy-puppet-warden in each prison (do we really want potential loan systems to be simply automated?) or whoever is appointed as head of bank (Maybe this Skinwalker person whom we never see?) and also perhaps a need to "know the inmates" a bit in order to make such judgement calls. It just seems like a lot of work to figure out and implement....
Lots of words, maybe I just think too much, but those are my two..... wait..... *counts* my 27 and a half cents to put in.
