ive read multiple stories about people running people over in a car on purpose, just the other week near where i live a fight happened at a bar and it got broken up and everyone ran and a guy got in his car and ran over the guy he was fighting a 1 of that guys friends and killed him them both

but if your trying to make society safer why stop at guns?

nobody said he got his gun from a crackhead. but not every nutjob out there has parents who are into competitve shooting. they can still go to their nearest large city and buy one for a hundred dollar bill out of someones trunk. i can go right now and buy one within 2 hours, use it for illegal activity and there will be no way to trace it back to me. at least now a huge portion of the firearms out there are traceable. you start takin away ppls guns and the number of guns with no ties to them will increase ten fold or more

are sharp objects, cars and food being created just to shoo.. i mean "defend" yourself against other people with weapons?

nah skip the padded room, lets arm everyone with as much shit as we can, so that people keep feeling the need to arm themselves even better against their fellow citizens........... its a down-ward spiral of paranoia

i suppose if cars was being used to kill our school kids , or using knives to stab them or even choking our school kids then we would have to deal with that if it happens! but right now its guns that is being used and need stiffer laws !

stiffer penalties? most of the people who are in these mass shootings end up dieing, by suicide or by police and they plan on that happening, what stiffer penalty do you want to give to them? if someone has their mind made up to do harm nothing will stop them

im just sayin the gun he got was legally obtained not from the black market so was columbine's guns n one of them killers were felons with illegally obtained weapons!

what about china. granted its not the US, but the same day as the newport shooting a guy went in and STABBED 22 kids. and china has very strict gun laws compared to ours. the point is, no matter what theres still gonna be whackos and they will still snap and do what they're gonna do no matter the weapon

your just pointing to a few isolated incidents, mostly of mentally ill people, you need to look at a larger portion of society to get a better picture...i bet in a few of those cases if they didnt have access to the legal firearms, then they might spend their life savings on buying a few illegal ones if they made their mind up to kill innocent people and knew they were going to die or go to jail anyways
