True Steve... but I do agree with Vic in a sense, that the world has gone mad.. whatever happened to ''sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me''... I understand you have to adhere to some sort of conduct while representing a league or team as a professional and if it was on live TV thats worse... but a 100k ''swear jar''... damn!

Hmmmm working with young GLBT youth... the term faggot has been identified as one of the words used most when bullying them... and unfortunately the end result for many is suicide... the term faggot is derogatory and indicates hatred based on sexual behaviour and orientation...

Suicide of anyone makes me sad

Thats sad... ...dummies get called stupid all the time but they aren't smart enough to form a coalition so stupid is acceptable to be used daily...i think that homosexauls commit suicide is from internal feelings...no other group goes that far(suicide) because of who they are,(that i can think of) maybe eating disorders

Well of course he can take the hit, the monies nothing to him and in reality the franchise will prob pay it, like it happens in Pro football in UK. Would it of happened in sports 10, 20 or 30 years ago? Doubt it very much... even if the fine was relevant for the time. I dont see it as a good thing anyways, but thats just my opinion.

As for Hana's comment on suicide... I would like to think it took a lot more than being called a fag for them to kill themselves. A lot more... Suicide imo is a horrible, selfish, pathetic and undignified thing to do, no matter whats up, apologies in advance to anyone who has lost friend/family due to this, but thats my honest opinion.

And Suicide stories make me angrier more than sad.

On another note, if I lost 1/3 of my wage for making 1 mistake, id be owing them money at the end of the month

it is the repeated stuff that goes along with being put down for your orientation... well for anything... the use of the term fag for a put down in general society contributes to the low self esteem that many GLBT people experience... and the maintainence of their discrimination contributes to homelessness and disownment from their families... what parent kicks out their 14 year old son cause he says he is gay... and it happens... all to frequently... all this shit... (which i have only given two examples of) contributes to low mood amongst a lot of things... and it dont' take a rocket scientest to figure out that ongoing... long term low mood has the potential to lead to thoughts of hopelessness... suicide makes me angry, sad and confused... but ignorance just makes me straight mad...

Sorry to be a downer... i have used the word.. faggot... but i then live with the remorse of the fact that my use of it... just has contributed to the ongoing social exclusion of a group of humans... D:
